GOSHEN CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 4, 2009

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman John Ross called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M.

ATTENDANCE: John Ross, Joan M. Lang, Chris Marino, Barry Donaldson and Audra Allen.  Excused absence Barnett Laschever and Anders Nygren.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the December 3, 2008 meeting were presented for approval.  There was no discussion under the minutes. A MOTION WAS MADE BY Chris Marino seconded by Barry Donaldson to approve said minutes as presented.  SO VOTED.  Due to bad weather no January 2009 meeting was held.

OLD BUSINESS:
Trail Update – In looking ahead to spring trail cleaning, the date of Saturday, May 9th was set for spring maintenance of the North Goshen Trail.  Due to the severe ice storm we had this winter, it is expected that there could be a lot of branches down.

Goshen Open Space Areas & Trails Brochure – No further work was done on the draft brochure and it was felt that the efforts being made by the Town to cut any unnecessary spending that any further work to complete and print the brochure would be put on hold at this time.  Open Space Identification of continuous corridors – It was reported by Chris Marino that he had been in contact with Timothy Abbott, Director of the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Program and Mr. Abbott was willing to meet with the Goshen Conservation Commission on the project to update and produce an overlay map that could be used by the various Town Boards and Commissions in the identification of lands that could be considered for future preservation of lands that would have the potential to become part pf a continuous corridor of preserved lands in Goshen.  Mr. Abbott had been invited to the January Meeting but that meeting was cancelled.  Chris Marino would contact Mr. Abbott and invite him to the March 4th Conservation Mtg.

Noted was the passing of Roy Robinson, brother of Peggy Robinson who had served on the Conservation Commission for several years.  Audra Allen would get a card to send to Peggy Robinson from the Conservation Commission members.

A copy of “The Habitat” the CT Assoc. of Conservation and Inland Wetlands Comm. Inc. fall news letter was given to each Commission member present.  There was no other business to come before this meeting.  A MOTION TO ADJOURN WAS MADE BY
Audra Allen seconded by Chris Marino.  The meeting adjourned at 8:00 P.M

Respectfully Submitted,
GOSHEN CONSERVATION COMMISSION

Joan M. Lang, Commission Clerk
