MINUTES – REGULAR MEETING
MARCH 3, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: Chairman John Ross called the meeting to order at 7:38 P.M.
ATTENDANCE: John Ross, Barry Donaldson, Chris Marino and Joan Lang. Excused absence, Anders Nygren and Audra Allen. Absent Barnett Laschever.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the February 3, 2010 Meeting were presented for approval. A MOTION WAS MADE BY Barry Donaldson, seconded by Chris Marino to approve the minutes as presented. There was no discussion on the minutes, MOTION CARRIED.
OLD BUSINESS: Trail Maintenance- On hold until Spring.
Article for Town Topics – Audra Allen had reported to John Ross that she is working on the article to be written on what can be done to protect our water sources and would welcome any information that the Board might want to see included in the article. If available, the date for submission of articles and the date of publication of the next Town Topics are also needed. Mention was made of the recent article which appeared in the WTBY Republican relative to the effects that medicines and herbicides used across the country are being found in water sources and the studies that show they are causing deformity in frogs in Connecticut waterways.
GOSHEN SCENIC AREAS IDENTIFICATION BROCHURE: John Ross has been working on the collating of the Maps descriptions of scenic areas and photos to be incorporated into the brochure and shared with the Board some of the photos chosen to be used. Discussed was the number and size of the photos to be used. It was noted that there are 20 viewing sights noted on the maps It was agreed that the size should be reduced which would allow for more scenic photos to be used. John Ross would work with Anders Nygren on the selection of other photos to be used in the brochure. Discussed was the possibility of putting the information on the brochure on the Town website. John Ross would check with the Town Clerk to see who manages the Town Website and see if it can be done.
Perennial Bed Maintenance – John Ross reported that Christina Seidel had volunteered to take care of the maintenance of the perennial beds in the front of the Town Hall. She has requested some guidance as to how and what care the bed needs and it was suggested that we put her in contact with Donna Grenier who can give her instructions relative to the care of the plants.
Updating of the Revised 2001 Goshen Open Space Plan – John Ross and Joan would contact Town Assessor Lucy Hussmann relative to setting up a time that would be convenient to meet with her relative to review of data needed to revise the 2001 Goshen Open Space Plan. It was noted that the Town continues to give consideration to the digitizing of the Goshen parcel maps. Reviewed briefly was the data used for the 2001 revision of the GOSP.

CORRESPONDENCE: A letter of approval from the State Dept. of Environmental Protection relative to the dredging of the channel areas of Woodridge Lake as a means toward controlling the weed growth in the Lake.
Mention was made of the March 27th Town Meeting. It was noted that the agenda for the Town Meeting does not include the Town acquisition of Peat Swamp.
There was no other business proper to come before said meeting. A MOTION TO ADJOURN WAS MADE BY Barry Donaldson, seconded by Chris Marino. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 P.M.
