Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting
May 19, 2009
 
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 2:32 P.M.
 
PRESENT: Barney Laschever, Jeff Johnson, Diana Bernard, Lynn Steinmayer, Pat Reilly, Henrietta Horvay, and Cathy Nygren.
 
Barney Laschever stated he wanted to thank everyone who helped with the Wine Tasting event on  Saturday, May 16, 2009.  It was well attended and enjoyed by all.
 
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept minutes of April 21, 2009 by Cathy Nygren  seconded by Pat Reilly.  Motion passed by all present.
 
PRESIDENT’S REPORT Barney asked if there were any new contests.  Lynn and Diane stated the poetry contest was done and the winners were awarded their books. The poetry is posted in the library.  Barney asked if a photo can be setup to be taken of the winners. Lynn stated she would setup a date.  Barney asked about the road sign.  Cathy Nygren was asked to call the State of CT office in Cornwall and ask about the location of the sign on North Street in front of Town Hall. Barney would like the library to have a Mission.  He asked the directors to consider a theme: 1. An astronomy library, 2. A history library, etc.   Lynn stated that the Morris library went to White Memorial observatory last week and she would ask about the visit.
 
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached).  Discussion followed on statistic report.  Lynn was asked to show old statistics and new statistics for directors to review. Lynn spoke about Syndetic Solutions a search engine company for indexed content.  Motion to accept the report by Henrietta Horvay and seconded by Diana Bernard. Motion passed by all present.
 
TREASURER’S REPORT:  Jeff Johnson submitted his report for the month.(attached). Jeff discussed the various accounts.
 
NEW BUSINESS: Diane Bernard spoke about the concert for summer in July.  She has contacted Matt for a Friday night in July either the 17th or 24th.  Cost will be $100.00.  Motion made by Jeff Johnson and seconded by Kathy Nygren to have the event. Motion carried by all present.
 
OLD BUSINESS:  Wine Tasting event.  President will send thank you letters to companies/people that supplied food and gifts for the event. 
 
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 3:53 P.M. Motion made by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Jeff Johnson.  Motion passed by all present.
