Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting
August 18, 2009
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 2:30 P.M. by President Barnett Lashever.
PRESENT: Pat Reilly, Jeff Johnson, Diana Bernard, Lynn Steinmayer, Henrietta Horvay, and Cathy Nygren.
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept minutes of July 21, 2009 by Jeff Johnson seconded by Cathy Nygren. Motion passed by all present.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Barney spoke about the establishment of the Astronomy club. The library is purchasing the Astronomy magazine and Barney Laschever made a gift for the purchase of the magazine. Lynn spoke to Robert Goldberg and he is willing to lead the this program at the library. Lynn will get back to Robert Goldberg about the program.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached). Discussion followed on the summer program of events. They were well attended and enjoyed by all. Lynn stated that she received a thank you and a 2010 calendar from the Mark Twain House & Museum from their Benefit Fund.
TREASURER REPORT: Jeff Johnson submitted his report for the month.(attached). Jeff discussed the various accounts. The Endowment Fund and Advised Fund show improvements in the last quarter.
OLD BUSINESS: Cathy Nygren spoke about the Hidden Treasure at the Library. Lynn will ask patrons if they have read books, etc. that are have not been taken out in many years and their comments on the books, etc. Henrietta is checking on the young people from Goshen who are in the military. She will check with the Cub Scout leader about participating with them in the fall when they sent packages to the military. Jeff Johnson spoke about the display that the Goshen Good Neighbors had in the library of the photographs of Goshen. He asked maybe the library can setup a display of the cover photo from year to year.
NEW BUSINESS: Jeff Johnson spoke about the book sale at the Goshen Fair. The sign up sheets are in the library and Thursday need of help to setup for bringing the books to the Fair grounds..
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 3:34 P.M. Motion made by Henrietta Horvay and seconded by Jeff Johnson.. Motion passed by all present.
