Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting

September 15, 2009

 

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 2:34 P.M. by  President Barnett Laschever.

 

PRESENT: Jeff Johnson, Diana Bernard, Lynn Steinmayer, Henrietta Horvay, Barnett Laschever, and Cathy Nygren.

Absent: Pat Reilly

SECRETARY’S MINUTES:  Minutes amended to state that Barnett Laschever was in attendance and name type incorrectly. Motion to accept minutes of August 18, 2009 as amended by Cathy Nygren seconded by Jeff Johnson.  Motion passed by all present.

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Barney would like an outreach program on Washington.  Get a lector to

discuss Washington possibly on President’s Day. Lynn is to ask the teacher for input or help to coordinate the program. KINDLE in a cell phone technology (software to download books).  Both Jeff and Lynn have them and will bring them to the next meeting.  (It would be great if the Library had ONE.)  Sony also produces this electronic book.

Barney spoke to Robert Goldberg about the Astronomy Club.  Lynn will speak to Robert Goldberg about startup of the program and an article will be the next newsletter.

 

DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached).  Discussion followed: Totals were corrected for Total Patron Visits.  Lynn discussed using the Service Center and Lynn will be there in October.  Lynn read a note received from the Goshen Good Neighbors thanking the library for allowing them to use the Library for their calendar photo preview.

 

TREASURER REPORT: Jeff Johnson submitted his report for the month.(attached). Jeff discussed the various accounts.  The Endowment Fund and Advised Fund will be reported afrter the 9/30/09 date.  Book Sale at the Goshen Fair grossed $4,00 profit and the best sale ever.  Pro Quo Books purchased the unsold books. Some were donated to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  Two workers at the booth for many hours were Frank Bruno and Katrina Earl.  They helped a great deal.

 

OLD BUSINESS: “Hidden Treasure” will have an article in the next newsletter. On the list of banned books are many classic books.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  Disinfecting the keyboards will be done by using disinfectant wipes. 

 

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 3:37 P.M. Motion made by Jeff Johnson and seconded by Diane Bernard.  Motion passed by all present.
