Minutes of Board of Directors Special Meeting
DECEMBER 7, 2009
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 3:03 P.M. by Vice President Diana Bernard.
PRESENT: Jeff Johnson, Lynn Steinmayer, Henrietta Horvay, Cathy Nygren, Pat Reilly, Lucia Miller, and Diana Bernard.
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept minutes of November 17, 2009 as amended, under New Business, Once a month an evening program., by Jeff Johnson and seconded by Pat Reilly. Motion passed by all present.
CORRESPONDENCE: None
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached). Lynn discussed the November programs. Lynn discussed the evening programs and dates: January 26 Stamping Up, February 23, March, a mystery writer from Massachusetts, and April reference to earth day. Trivia date is March 12.
Barnett Laschever arrived at 3:26 p.m. Barney was greet by all present.
Vice President Diana Bernard presented Barney with a gift from the members of the board. Barney presented a check to the Friends of the Goshen Public Library to purchase a Kindle for the Library. The board thanked Barney for the gift of the Kindle.
Barney left the meeting at 3:36 p.m.
TREASURER REPORT: Jeff Johnson. Jeff only received the account balances today . His reports were tabled to the next meeting. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Diana Bernard. Motion passed by all present.
OLD BUSINESS:
Review guidelines regarding unattended children in the library. Discussion followed about safety issues. Lynn stated that the issues has been addressed and has been corrected.
2010 Meeting Dates: Motion by Jeff Johnson and seconded by Lucia Miller to have the meeting dates of the board to be the 2nd Monday on the month at 3:00 p.m. Attached approved dates. Motion carried by all present.
Astronomy: No Discussion.
NEW BUSINESS:
2010-2011 Budget: Jeff stated that in January he will receive statement to start planning the budget. Needs to be done by March. Jeff stated there can be salary increases but no increase in the total budget. The board will discuss the budget at the March 8th meeting.
Closing Dates: Motion by Henrietta Horvay and seconded by Jeff Johnson to close on Monday, July 5, 2010 and Friday, December 24, 2010. Motion passed by all present. Motion by Jeff Johnson and seconded by Diana Bernard to have Lynn decide to have Martin Luther King January 28 off or the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 26. Motion passed by all present..
Motion to close on December 24, 2009 at the same time as the Goshen Town Hall is closed by Henrietta Horvay and seconded by Pat Reilly. Motion passed by all present.
Procedures to tbe followed by Artist of the month: Diana Bernard asked about liability of artist exhibiting their works in the library. Discussion followed. Jeff with draft a waiver form to be used for the next meeting.

Wine Tasting: The wine tasting is on for 2010 for sometime in may . Friends will be working out a date with the board.
Chain of command: Lynn Steinmayer reports to the Board of Directors first and is a Town employee.
Election of Officers: Slate presented as follows:
President Jeff Johnson, Vice President Diana Bernard, Secretary Henrietta Horvay, Treasurer Cathy Nygren, Assistant Treasurer Pat Reilly.
Motion to accept the slate as presented by Lucia Miller and seconded by Diana Bernard. Motion passed by all present.
Next meeting will be January 11, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 4:34 P.M. Motion made by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Diana Bernard. Motion passed by all present.
