Minutes of Board of Directors Meeting
NOVEMBER 17, 2009
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 2:39 P.M. by Vice President Diana Bernard.
PRESENT: Jeff Johnson, Lynn Steinmayer, Henrietta Horvay, Cathy Nygren, Pat Reilly and Diana Bernard.
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept minutes of October 20, 2009 by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Jeff Johnson. Motion passed by all present.
CORRESPONDENCE: None
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached). Lynn spoke about the series of programs for adults and children. Lynn spoke about having Susanna do a series of classes on WORD on Friday afternoons. Discussion followed on Snack pack/lunch bunch.
TREASURER REPORT: Jeff Johnson submitted his report for the month (attached). Jeff discussed the various accounts showing the 3rd quarter of the special funds have increased almost to their original value. Directors reviewed the monthly library accounts. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Patrick Reilly. Motion passed by all present.
Vice President Diana Bernard welcome new member Lucia Miller.
Lucia Miller arrived at 3:00 p.m.
OLD BUSINESS: Astronomy: The astronomy program on November 10, 2009 was very well attended. Barney send Jeff a note about the club and it was discussed by the members. Lynn stated there is an interest in Goshen having the Asaph Hall Astronomy Club. Robert Goldberg will not be able to lead the club but will provide advise. Suggested that Paula can help and the club can meet quarterly. All avenue will be reviewed by the board.
Military: Henrietta Horvay submitted three names and recommended that books to send to them and Lynn ask the Friends to pay for the books and postage. All present agreed.
NEW BUSINESS: New Meeting time. The next meeting will be a special meeting on December 7, 2009 (Monday) at 3:00 p.m. and the board will be submitting their 2010 schedule of dates.
Library Hours discussed. Once a month to have an every program. Lynn will be having at the end of February a Music program. Also considering a book review on “The Last Lecture” by Randy Pausch. The book discussion club will be informed the evenings that the library will be opened for these programs.
ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 3:49 P.M. Motion made by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Jeff Johnson. Motion passed by all present.
