Minutes of Board of Directors Regular Meeting

April 12, 2010

 
 
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:02 PM by president Jeff Johnson.
 
PRESENT: Jeff Johnson, Lynn Steinmayer, Diana Bernard, Cathy Nygren, and Lucia Miller
Excused: Henrieta Horvay
Absent: Pat Reilly
 
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept minutes of March 8, 2010 by Diana Bernard and seconded by Cathy Nygren. Motion passed by al present.
 
MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES: Lynn will communicate with the teachers at Goshen Center School about any upcoming projects/reports the students may be working on to have books available for them to reference.
 
CORRESPONDENCE: None
 
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: March was the first themed program series. (report attached) Goshen Public Library hosted the Northwest Corner Library Directors’ meeting on March 3, 2010, which is set to meet again in May at the Middletown Service Center.
 
TREASURER’S REPORT: Report unavailable at the time of this meeting, deferred until the May meeting.
 
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: None
 
OLD BUSINESS:
 
Kindle: The staff is receiving training on how to use the Kindle. It has been decided that a copy of the patron’s driver’s license will be taken at the time the Kindle is checked out.
 
May Wine Tasting: Saturday, May 15th at Sunset Vineyards from 5:30 – 7:30 tickets will be sold at the library only at a cost of $15 per ticket and the maximum number of tickets to be sold is 75. If all 75 tickets are not sold in advance, they will be available at the door. Door prizes will be donated.
 
2010-2011 Budget and Capital Budget: Both budgets were presented by Cathy Nygren at the Board of Finance Meeting on March 24, 2010. Both reports were received by the Board of Finance with thanks and praise.
 
Publicity: The Litchfield County Times and The Register Citizen have both been posting upcoming events happening at the library. Lucia Miller will put up posters on the bulletin boards at Woodridge Lake and at Wamogo where appropriate.
 
NEW BUSINESS: Cathy Nygren reported that mailings to new residents in Goshen was going well, and is being well received.
 
Next Meeting will be a regular meeting on MONDAY
May 3, 2010 AT 4:00 P.M.
