Minutes of Board of Directors Regular Meeting
May 3, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:03 P.M. By President Jeff Johnson.
PRESENT: Jeff Johnson, Lynn Steinmayer, Henrietta Horvay, Pat Reilly, Cathy Nygren and Lucia Miller
Excused: Diane Bernard.
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept revised minutes of April 12, 2010 by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Lucia Miller. Motion passed by all present.
MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES: None
CORRESPONDENCE: Lynn received a letter from Woodridge Lake Association asked the Library to participate in Expo 2010 on June 26, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00. Discussion followed. Motion for the Library to attend was made by Pat Reilly and seconded by Cathy Ngren. Motion passed by all present.
Lynn received a Happy Patron thank you note from Frances Krukar, thanking the Library for their service of delivering books to home bound.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached). Programs were well attended.
TREASURER REPORT: Treasurer Cathy Nygren gave the reports for April 13, 2010 and May 2, 2010. Cathy reviewed the report to the board. (attached)
PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Jeff Johnson spoke about having a quarterly discussion on the Programs, at the August meeting do fall, November do winter, February do spring and May do summer. At members were asked to get feedback from people for programs. Jeff also spoke about the upcoming book sale. At the present time not many books are being donated. He asked to remind town people of cleaning out their old books and donated them to the Library.
OLD BUSINESS:
Kindle: The Kindle has been checked out by a patron.
May Wine Tasting: May 15, 2010 at the Sunset Vineyards at 5:30 P.M. Cost is $15.00 per ticket and available in the Library. Cathy Nygren and Ann Kelly meet to discussion the event.
Proposed 2010-2011 Budget: Accepted by the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance.
Publicity: Jeff spoke about the publicity for the May 4th program in the Litchfield County Times, the article on the front page of the newspaper.
Summer Reading Program: Lynn stated the Summer Reading program subject will be on “Pets”.
NEW BUSINESS:
Amendments to By-laws: Proposed amendments of the By-laws were distributed to the members. Jeff reviewed them with the board. After discussion a motion was made by Lucia Miller and seconded by Cathy Nygren to accepted the amendments and a vote by show on hands was taken to show five (5) positive votes to accept the changes. Motion passed.
