Minutes of Board of Directors Regular Meeting
July 12, 2010
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:04 P.M. by President Jeff Johnson.
PRESENT: Jeff Johnson, Lynn Steinmayer, Henrietta Horvay, Pat Reilly, Cathy Nygren, Diana Bernard, and Lucia Miller.
SECRETARY’S MINUTES: Motion to accept the minutes of June 7, 2010 by Cathy Nygren and seconded by Diana Bernard. Motion passed by all present.
MATTERS ARISING FROM MINUTES: None
CORRESPONDENCE: None
DIRECTOR'S REPORT: Lynn Steinmayer reviewed her report (attached). Lynn spoke about her meeting with Region 6 librarians at Warren Public Library. Lynn discussed the Summer Reading Program.
TREASURER REPORT: Treasurer Cathy Nygren reviewed the July 12, 2010 report with the board. (attached)
PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Jeff Johnson spoke about the Grant that OWL library received for the outreach library.
OLD BUSINESS:
Summer Reading Program: Summer Reading program is going very well. Step into the Classics list is an excellent program. Paula did an excellent job in selecting the list of book for reading. Jeff asked each director to try to read one book for the program this summer.
Book Sale: Books continue to come in and the sign up sheets are available to sign up at the library counter. (Work at the Goshen Fair.)
Fall Wine Tasting - Miranda: Lynn secured the date of October 23rd and the time will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Other details will be at the next meeting.
Trivia: Trivia will be July 23, 2010, Friday at 6:30 p.m. Get your teams setup for the game.
NEW BUSINESS:
GRANT: The Goshen Public Library was awarded a grant from the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut and the Connecticut Humanities Council to provide a four part series on the Revolutionary War and its time period.
The series will occur between September and November.
September 11th at noon Saturday with the “River Ramblers”. Their education programs blend stories, songs and music into the cohesive presentation of oral history. Weather permitting the program will be outside.
September 21st at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, M. William Phelps will talk about his book “NATHAN HALE: the life and death of American’s first spy.
October 15th at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Old Town Hall. The arrival of General George Washington, (a.k.a. Dean Malissa- the official historical portrayer of G. Washington at Mount Vernon).
October 26th at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening Susan J. Jerome will speak on the “Revolutionary Textiles”. The talk will include weaving, homespun, and flags: the textiles of the Colonial Army.

CONTRIBUTION:
The Goshen Public Library received a contribution from the Torrington Savings Bank as one of six organizations honored at their opening. The funds will be used to purchase a Movie License USA to show various movies in the library at any time.
Motion to adjourn at 5:30 p.m. by Henrietta Horvay and seconded by Cathy Nygren. Motion passed by all present.
Next Meeting will be a regular meeting on MONDAY
