Special Meeting
Minutes

CALL TO ORDER:  The meeting was called to order at 3:30 PM.  Present were Henrietta Horvay, Cathy Nygren, Barney Laschever and Rosemary Bonaguide.  Suzanne Mazzarelli and Jeff Johnson were excused.

Barney made a motion to go into executive session which ended at 3:35.

Director Lynn Steinmayer then joined the Board.

Barney suggested that the minutes be e-mailed to the Board members.  Henrietta made a motion, seconded by Rosemary, to accept the minutes with the correction that Rosemary was excused from the previous meeting.  Barney also asked that Lynn report on decisions made at the staff meetings.

Henrietta presented the library expense report for the period 7/1 to 10/15.

Lynn provided the Director’s and the Children’s Activity reports..  She requested that circulation policies be updated.  Rosemary moved that she do so and present a revised policy at the next meeting.   It was seconded by Cathy.  Lynn will contact Barry Hall about the staff being instructed in use of the fire extinguisher and also ask Bob Valentine about early closing of the library on both Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  Lynn suggested that the computers be replaced on a rotating basis. PC Wizard supplied a cost estimate and Lynn will ask PCW’s Jeff Putnam how long the estimate will apply.  She presented a sketch of a new circulation desk.  She will talk to Jeff Johnson about a possible offer of a donation for its purchase.

Regarding publicity, Cathy suggested that the Register Citizen and WZBG be included as sources of spreading information.

Barney suggested that we have a Muslim imam speak about Islam.   Cathy said all religions should be represented.  He also suggested a classic literature series of discussions.

Rosemary moved that we adjourn at 5PM.  It was seconded by Henrietta.

Respectfully submitted,

Catherine A. Nygren
Secretary
