Special Meeting
Minutes
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:35 PM. Present were Barney Laschever, Jeff Johnson, Diana Bernard, Cathy Nygren and Director Lynn Steinmayer. Suzanne Mazzarelli and Henrietta Horvay were excused.
The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted. Barney welcomed Diana as a newly elected member.
Mary Bulat was invited to give an exit interview as she has taken a position in Harwinton.
Mary feels that the position needs more than the 19 hours provided; 25 or 30 would be more realistic for the time needed to do a proper job as she spent much time at home doing prep work. She suggested possible game nights and book discussion groups to attract teens. She said the Chess Club had not yet begun for the fall session. Lynn will check into that.
Jeff presented the treasurer’s and the budget expenditure reports.
The Director presented her report. She will pursue having speakers from various religions explain their philosophies as an on-going series. Lynn will obtain the latest Children’s Coordinator job description and post it on the CT library web-site. She will also investigate creating a library blog.
Barney suggested having a program on games played by American Indians. Lynn will check with an author of Indian culture.
Lynn’s 90-day evaluation will be done by Board members after Dec. 17th. Pending room availability, our meetings for 2008 will be at 1:30 PM on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Jeff will create an outline for the long-range planning committee. It was decided that a Christmas staff party will be held on the day of our next Board meeting, Dec. 18, at 2PM. Cathy & Lynn will plan and advise members what to bring. Ernie and Rosemary will be invited.
Cathy moved that we adjourn at 6:15PM. It was seconded by Diana.
