Special Meeting
Minutes
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:33 PM. Present were Henrietta Horvay, Jeff Johnson, Cathy Nygren, Suzanne Mazzarelli and Barney Laschever. Rosemary Bonaguide was absent.
Suzanne made a motion, seconded by Henrietta, to accept the minutes.
Jeff presented 2 months’ treasurer’s reports. A discussion was held regarding spending more than $700 received from the State’s CD anti-trust litigation. It is to be used only for music related expenses. Cathy made a motion, seconded by Suzanne, to accept the report.
Henrietta provided a circulation activity and expenditure report, Mary Lee’s children’s program schedule and FOI information on types of meetings and rules regarding them.
Lynn asked if the staff could be instructed in use of the fire extinguisher. The Fire Chief will be asked to stop by and show them. A reception honoring Lynn will be held on Sat., Oct. 6 from 11-2. Ann Kelly and Suzanne will write a press release for Henrietta to send to the newspapers. Cathy will provide some goodies.
Suzanne requested that the meeting day be changed. It was agreed that, henceforth, we will meet at 3:30PM on the 3rd Tuesday. The Board will continue to research moving toward independence. A long-range planning committee was formed. It consists of Jeff, Barney and Cathy. Barney asked that we all think of a topic for our next essay contest.
A discussion was held regarding a reporter’s request for copies of the contest essays.
Regarding in-home delivery of books, etc., Lynn will speak with the municipal senior citizen rep and advertise the service to inform residents and to get volunteers to provide it. Lynn will review the job descriptions with the staff and advise us of any needed changes. She was advised of the Town Policies booklet and one was placed in the Board’s box. Lynn will consider a possible location for providing coffee during the morning. She will also check out color copiers at Staples, as well as information on new circulation desks.
