Goshen Safety Committee Quarterly Meeting
November 24, 2008 2:30 pm
Town Office Conference Room
Present: Kate Breakell, Dale Ives, Gary Kandefer, Christopher Mitchell and Bob Valentine. Absent: Edward Perry
Call to Order: Chairman Christopher Mitchell called the meeting to order at 2:35 pm.
Approval of the Minutes: Bob moved and Kate seconded that the minutes from the July 19th meeting be approved with the correction “light night” be corrected to last night. Motion carried.
Matters Arising from the Minutes: none
New Business:
Public Works Situation- Bob reported that Call Before You Dig had miss-marked an area on East Hyderdale which caused a dangerous situation. As a result, the men at Public Works have had two safety workshop training sessions. One was with Call Before You Dig conducted by Bill Peterson and another with a Connecticut Light and Power representative. If workers have any suspicion that anything might be underground, they know that they should hand dig first.
Public Works has also recently reviewed all of their safety procedures reminding workers to use chaps, safety glasses, helmets and face protection when appropriate.
Goshen Turkey Trot Race Course- Gary reported that Public Works had been out today filling pot-holes and preparing the course for the annual Thanksgiving morning road race. He noted that the heavy rain anticipated for tomorrow will mean the course will need to be re-checked on Wednesday.
Worker’s Compensation Incidents- none were reported for this quarter.
Adjournment: Bob moved and Gary seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 2:55 pm. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Dale W. Ives, Secretary
