Goshen Safety Committee Quarterly Meeting
November 15, 2010
Town Office Conference Room
Present: Sam Anstett, Kate Breakell, Dale Ives, Christopher Mitchell, Edward Perry and Bob Valentine
Call to Order: Chairman Mitchell called the meeting to order at 2:30 pm.
Approval of the Minutes: Bob moved and Sam seconded that the minutes from the April 22nd meeting be approved as read. Motion carried.
Old Business:
Repairs at Camp-Dale reported that the supports under the Arts and Crafts Lodge at Camp Cochipianee had been replaced and repaired by Spring Valley Builders making the building safe before the day camp opened. The Selectmen and Board of Finance recognized the safety hazard and authorized the work even though there was no money in the Rec. Dept. budget at year end.
New Business:
Library Accident Claim-a child claimed that he had fallen on crab apples in September that were on the ground near the town library entrance and broken his wrist. Bob noted that at present CIRMA has the case. Bob also noted that he had serious doubts as to whether the child was ever actually at the library.
Ice Skating Area- Sam suggested that Public Works will install the No Skating Sign near the town skating pond until ice conditions are appropriate.
Front Door at Library Entrance- Kate reported that the extremely heavy entrance door has some rot and a new less heavy replacement door is being explored. The door is difficult for older patrons or parents with toddlers to safely manage. Bob mentioned that the first option might well be to replace the hinges.
Annual Inspection of Fire Extinguishers – all extinguishers in Public Works, the Fire Department, the Town Office Building and Camp Cochipianee have been inspected. In addition Edward reported that some new First Aid Safety kits had been purchased for the town trucks. The Medical Cabinet at Public Works has also been replenished with supplies.
Parking Lot Lines at Camp Cochipianee- Registrar Nanci Howard indicated after the most recent voting at Camp Coch that there were a number of complaints that the lines on the parking lot were not visible and made parking to vote somewhat hazardous.
Worker’s Compensation Incidents: none were reported for this quarter.
Adjournment: Bob moved and Edward seconded that the meeting be adjourned at 2:59 pm. Motion carried.
Respectfully submitted,
Dale W. Ives
