Laurie B. Mosley called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m.
SECRETARY’S REPORT: None
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Carol Aldrich presented the report for the Activities Account which currently has a balance of $6,432.56 after transferring revenue of $6,720.15 for the period September, 2009 through December, 2009 to the Town of Goshen.
Laurie Mosley discussed the Recreation Department’s actual expenses versus budget. Currently 66.2% of the budget has been spent which is on track for this time of the year. Laurie noted the wages for the Assistant to the Recreation Director are over budget because Nanci Howard has been doing a great job of covering the office while Dale is on vacation. In the past members of the commission, other town employees and Darlene Krukar of the office of the Litchfield Hills Council of Elected Officials have helped people. Laurie also indicated many of the expenses associated with Camp Coch occur during May and June.
IN A MOTION made by Nanci Howard, seconded by Catharine M. Corwin, it was VOTED to accept the Treasurers’ reports. Vote unanimous.
PROGRAMMING REPORT:
Nanci Howard reported Goshen Physical Therapist Jill Maeder will again offer the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program at Camp Coch for those who suffer from arthritis. Classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday afternoons at Camp Coch lodge starting April 19th and running for six weeks.
Nanci informed the Commission close to 100 people enjoyed the Family Skating Program at The Hotchkiss School rink on February 6th.
Nanci stated the basketball programs are going well, Friday Ski at Mohawk is finished and the Tuesday Ski at Mohawk has one more session.
OLD BUSINESS:
Laurie Mosley will prepare the budget for the 2010/2011 fiscal year based on the current fiscal year with an increase in the line item for the Assistant to the Recreation Director.
NEW BUSINESS:
Patrick Lucas a member of the Boy Scouts of America would like to restore the trails on the 19.93 acres of Camp Cochipianee property located on the eastern side of Town Hill Road for his Eagle Scout project. Patrick provided maps of the property as it existed when deeded to the Town and discussed his plans noting bridges to be built over the West Branch Bantam River. He stated he would be working with Tom Stansfield and Lorraine Lucas both of whom are soil specialists. It was noted all construction must be approved by Martin Connor.
IN A MOTION made by Laurie B. Mosley, seconded by Carol Edith Aldrich, it was VOTED to approve Patrick Lucas’s Eagle Scout project provided the project meets all requirements of Martin Connor, Inland Wetlands & Zoning Enforcement Officer. Vote unanimous.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS: None
IN A MOTION made by Carol Edith Aldrich, seconded by Catharine M. Corwin, it was VOTED to adjourn the meeting. Vote unanimous. The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
