GOSHEN BOARD OF ASSESSORS
Regular Meeting- June 17, 2009
The June 17, 2009 Regular Meeting of the Goshen Board of Assessors was called to order at 4:08 p.m.
PRESENT:
Board Members – Jim Upton & Alan Booth
Assessor – Lucy Hussman
ABSENT:
Al Cibelli
READING OF MINUTES:
The minutes of the December 17, 2008 meeting were reviewed and approved.
REQUEST TO BE HEARD:
None.
ASSESSORS REPORT:
The final 2008 Grand List increase after the BAA adjustments was 0.57%. This is very flat due to the poor economy and lack of construction activity.
The same Mill Rate of 14.4 was held.
A spending freeze was implemented by the Board of Selectmen on January 5, 2009.
Town of Goshen employees agreed to a pay freeze for the 08/09 fiscal year.
The tax bills have been processed and are ready to mail.
Elderly Homeowner Tax Credit Applications have been processed and applied to the tax bills that are to be mailed by July 1. The Assessors Office must apply to the state for reimbursement of the Elderly Homeowner Tax Credit by July 1, 2009.
Local Option and Additional Veterans Applications are being received and processed.
Property sales activity is down but there is still considerable appraisal activity in our office due to the busy refinancing market.
BUDGET UPDATE:
The Budget Report dated 6/17/09 was reviewed and is projected to be under budget at the end of the fiscal year. We are currently at 75% with just two weeks left in the fiscal year.
OLD BUSINESS: None.
NEW BUSINESS:
Lisa Barber continues to be an asset to the office as the Assessment Clerk. She will be having a baby in October and plans to continue working in this position after the baby arrives.
