Dog Licenses

A dog license must be purchased when the dog is 6 months old and annually thereafter during the month of June.

A current valid rabies certificate must be presented at the time of licensing along with proof that the dog has been altered. A certificate from the veterinarian should be presented.

- A person who moves to Goshen whose dog was previously licensed in another Connecticut town may transfer the registration for $1.00.

- A lost tag can be replaced for $.50.

- Altered dogs are $8.00 and unaltered dogs are $19.00.

- The State also requires a late fee of $1.00 per month on previously registered dogs in the Town if licensed after June 30.

All dogs over the age of six months and living in Goshen must be vaccinated for rabies and licensed by the Town Clerk. If a dog is unable to obtain a rabies vaccination then proof must be provided from the veterinarian. This enables lost dogs to be traced back to the owner and vaccination to be verified in case of bites. The license is good from July 1st through June 30th and must be renewed during the month of June. Each month after that there is a dollar ($1.00) a month penalty added on to the original fee.
