STRUGGLE for SUFFRAGE:  This talk concentrates on the 19th century, beginning with the Seneca Falls Convention.  This was followed by a series of National Women's Rights Conventions---to not only get the vote, but to raise the stature of women in American society and economy.  An important boost was the Suffragette Movement allying itself with the Abolitionists.  This will lead to a split by the late 1860s that will culminate with the 15th Amendment giving the Black Man the right to vote.  Women continue to carry forth the struggle, seeking to raise their stature in an era of profound political, social and economic change.
